This 15-hour, interactive course will examine the neurobiological profile, cognitive-linguistic characteristics, and learning challenges (across all subjects) typical of those with dyslexia. With the unveiling of the scientific and cognitive underpinnings of dyslexia, this course will provide key strategies to optimize learning for individuals with dyslexia. Rooted in current science, this course will explore effective ways to create an appropriate learning environment, fine-tune teaching techniques, employ powerful strategies, adjust assignments and assessments, and leverage effective accommodations to maximize learning for those with dyslexia. Participant-focused activities will bring the content to life, helping each educator internalize the information for transference to his or her practice upon return to the classroom. Interactive activities interlaced through the two-day course will empower each educator with a suite of over 50 ready-to-apply guidelines, principles, and concrete strategies. While this course is appropriate for those who are new to the science of dyslexia, it will provide more knowledgeable participants with a deeper understanding of dyslexia, coupled with highly effective, universal strategies ready to customize for any learning environment.
