PEI License Renewal Credit Class Half Price Awards  – Up to $1000 Available

Apply now!  PEIF is offering half price scholarships for educators attending PEI Professional Development Classes. These scholarships are intended to help classroom teachers expand their professional skills and knowledge in areas of ethics, classroom management, dyslexia, leadership, financial literacy, and STEM.

August 6-7 – An Educator’s Guide to PTSD in Children – with Jolene Philo

Tuesday, August 6 & Wednesday, August 7 (8:00 am – 4:30 pm)  

Are you serving students who are dealing with trauma? Are you wondering if they might even have PTSD? This course explains causes and symptoms of PTSD in children of all ages, looks at recent research about how PTSD changes a child’s brain, and reviews treatment, methods, and prevention techniques. Time will be spent examining case studies together and practicing strategies to calm children when something triggers their PTSD.

REQUIRED BOOK: “Does My Child Have PTSD? What To Do When Your Child Is Hurting from the Inside Out” by Jolene Philo. Participants are required to obtain this book on their own prior to the start date of class. It is available on Amazon in print, Kindle, and audio versions, NOTE:

Registration will close ten days prior to the start date. You may want to wait to order the book until we know if there is sufficient enrollment to hold the course.

Course Objectives

  • The participant will understand how trauma and PTSD changes the brains of children and affects their behavior and learning,
  • The participant will be able to utilize strategies that create and maintain a secure and safe classroom environment for traumatized children.

100% attendance, active participation, and completion of all in-course activities required for License Renewal Credit

$60 PEI member, $100 non-member – 1 licensure renewal credit.

 Minimum enrollment of 10 required.  Maximum enrollment of 30.

Cancellations due to low class enrollment, full refund will be issued
Student initiated cancellation 72 hours prior to course, $10 cancellation fee
Student initiated cancellation less than 72 hours prior to course, non-refundable
