Improvisation is the performance art of adapting to random situations, thinking on your feet, and problem solving with others. Applied Improvisation uses the tenets of improvisation to bring those skills into the workforce, classroom, and everyday life. It provides a set of tools to participants, where students and teachers alike grow their social and emotional intelligence. Additionally, for the trauma-informed classroom, these skills provide teachers and students a means to remain in control of a situation.
This workshop will introduce you to the activities improvisors use to learn and practice the art of improv. Not only will you develop and practice those same skills, you’ll also learn activities you can adapt for your content area and use in your classroom!
Joe Van Haecke has over 20 years performing, studying, and coaching improvisation. A certified Elite Coach, Joe believes anyone can learn and apply the skills of improvisation to live a “yes, and…” life while surrounded by “yeah, but…” people. Whether for personal growth, leadership development, or performance training, Joe’s work as a teacher, coach, and improvisor brings a safe and supportive nature to a fun-filled learning environment.
