2025 Student Scholarships

Teacher of Tomorrow Scholarship - Two $1,000 Awards

This scholarship is for any Iowa high school senior aspiring to teach and will be awarded on the basis of the student’s career goal as an educator, academic record, accomplishments and community involvement. Requirements include:

  • An official high school transcript
  • An essay explaining why you want to be an educator (500 word min.)
  • A letter of recommendation from a teacher
  • A current photo of applicant suitable for publication

Upon successful completion of the first semester, this award will be paid directly to the post-secondary institution of choice.

College Book Scholarship - Two $500 Awards

This scholarship will be awarded to students who graduate from high school during the 2024-2025 school year. Students planning to further their education in a program leading to an education degree should submit:

  • An official high school transcript
  • An essay explaining why you want to be an educator (500 word min.)
  • A letter of recommendation from a teacher
  • A current photo of applicant suitable for publication

Upon successful completion of the first semester, this award will be paid directly to the post-secondary institution of choice.

Local  PEI Chapter Matching Scholarships - Ten $150 Awards

Local chapters with their own scholarship fund and selection process may receive $150 to boost their school’s scholarship.

  • The scholarship must be presented publicly at an assembly or awards ceremony
  • Local guidelines should be on file or submitted to the PEI office with preferred criteria including character, need, occupational pursuit, and public service
  • A current photo of applicant(s) suitable for publication

The award will be paid directly to the local PEI chapter.

Amy M. Koskovich Memorial Scholarship - One $1,000 Award

This scholarship has been established in memory of Amy M. Koskovich who passed away in 2024 after a 7 year battle with cancer. Having grown up in a family of dedicated educators, Amy knew the value of education and devoted herself to the next generation. As a civilian, Amy served active duty families as the Youth Service Director at Joint Base Pearl Harbor-Hickman.

This scholarship is intended to assist a high school student who is pursuing a career in elementary education AND has been directly impacted in their immediate family by EITHER active duty military service OR cancer. Requirements include:

  • An official high school transcript
  • An essay explaining why you want to be an educator AND how you have been personally impacted by active-duty military service OR cancer in your immediate family (500 word min.)
  • A letter of recommendation from a teacher
  • A current photo of applicant suitable for publication

Upon successful completion of the first semester, this award will be paid directly to the post-secondary institution of choice.

Ed Christian Memorial Scholarship - One $500 Award

This scholarship has been established in memory of Ed Christian. Ed was a career educator who faithfully served as a science teacher, guidance counselor, basketball coach, and Principal. He taught in several Iowa districts including Castana, Gowrie, Dayton, Pocahontas, and Pomeroy.

This scholarship is intended to assist a high school student who is pursuing a career in a science education field. Requirements include:

  • An official high school transcript
  • An essay explaining why you are pursuing a career in science education (500 word min.)
  • A letter of recommendation from a teacher
  • A current photo of applicant suitable for publication

Upon successful completion of the first semester, this award will be paid directly to the post-secondary institution of choice.
